Arming

 see the process of dressing as an archaic ritual of arming ourselves to face the daily role we have to play: child, parent, sister, employee, etc.

The motif of dressing up has appeared in many of my series. Perhaps this is because from an early age I saw clothes and makeup as tools that can change us. Growing up in a Catholic family, getting dressed for Sunday Mass was an important event of the week. When I was a teenager and in college, clothes gave me an escape and a chance to find myself. In adult life, I realize that clothes often become a tool of oppression, stigma or a mask covering our personality to fit into a particular work environment.
