Morning rituals

2021  oil paintings,
When I think about art and my painting inspirations, I realize that I tend to return obsessively to the subject of hands, and, sometimes, feet. To me, hands are, in a way, a portrait of human life and work, a tangible proof of effort. I consciously refrain from painting faces, peeking at us from within the frames of a picture. I want the viewer to give identity to the work of art and personalize it. I would even go so far as to say that faces make me tired and seem trivial to me. Therefore, I chose instead to portray hands and feet and to record body postures. I focus on trivial everyday gestures, giving them meaning and celebrating their existence on linen canvas.
